CURRENT PLANS: Right now, Scrooge is pretty much in a "leave me the hell alone" mindset. He doesn't want to make connections with anyone because everyone is going to leave him sooner or later. (Arguably one of his closest friends, Duckworth, even died.)

He'll push people away or chase them off with the dog and shotgun he's contemplating getting if they're on his property, but he secretly does need to be around people. He's just all messed up inside and thinks they'll just use him and leave him in the end. Not to mention the depression that comes with that thought. Better to just push people away and never suffer that heartbreak again.

My plans are for him to have a longer arc of getting back to the man he once was. I know it had to be truncated for series purposes in the pilot episode and don't begrudge it, but I still wished it had been longer.

WANTED CR: He needs people to help him start to let people back into his life. He won't exactly share his deepest darkest secrets any time soon (not just because the show hasn't revealed some of them yet), but he still needs people. He's got at least one person so far who is very much "I am not going to leave you alone" in a pseudo-aggressive way which is a fine tactic to take given how he'll snap and fight it, but don't all come at him like that. D:

For Leanne - I would love to eventually get into plantonic ship but for now, seeing another birb will probably help her not be so jumpy.

Dohko.... Oh god, IDK but want to throw hi at you just to see how well they clash. He can help get Scrooge drunk even accidentally.

Leanne - Scrooge will need some time to warm up to her. He's trying desperately hard not to be close to anyone, but as long as she doesn't go out of her way to constantly nag him he should warm up to her.

Dohko - Oh boy, it would take some convincing for him to go drinking with anyone. He's not into heavy drinking unless (A) it's super cheap stuff designed to get you drunk as quickly as possible or (b) someone else is paying for the booze. Bonus for all of the above. Though to be honest, Scrooge drunk is kind of filled with depression and self-loathing, so Dohko would probably regret the whole thing. XD

No problem! Leanne can be patient. She won't nag him... Too much. Just probably drop by once a day to visit or give him a crop.

Dohko rofl at least it will be the stuff that he made himself? So only bloody sweet and tears went into it. Dohko would feel like a jerk once he figures out that Scrooge is a depressed/self-loathing drunk. XD

Free stuff will definitely get her foot in the door. He's primarily raising animals, so he might give her some milk or eggs on occasion. Just because he feels like it. ~~IT DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING.~~

Yay! She will happily accept the gifts (cause it means that he is warming up to her!) and will just give any eggs to a certain neighbor who is determined to court her.

Dohko is perfect for that type of thing! And Dohko would be the better choice as Leanne can't even lift a single stone.

And now I'm imagining Scrooge hungover as hell, waking up when the sun is high in the sky, and panicking because his animals haven't been cared for yet.

Bridge does at least want to apologize at some point for pushing. Maybe offer some free labor to make it up to him?

Free labor is a good way to start (because, hello, it's free), but he's gonna be very wary and basically be like "Fine, but don't you dare talk to me more than what is necessary to the job"

I think Rose might be a good match for him? She's very charismatic in convincing people Life Is Worth Living again, if her past is any indication.

I actually know next to nothing about Steven Universe since the series didn't hook me, so I'm canon-blind on how Rose does that, to be honest. Do you mind explaining? Don't worry about spoilers. The most recent bombshell was spoiled for me weeks ago since it blew up my dash.

As Rose Quartz, she was able to build an entire rebellion out of the gems who realized life on Earth was beautiful, which was unheard of-- Gems are made for a purpose and usually adore serving their diamonds, so convincing others that the Earth was not only worth saving, but protecting means she has the charisma to make people practically programmed to follow orders to gain free will.

She's also pretty nurturing as seen here and worldly, obsessed with the Earth and its inhabitants.

She's also selfish as hell and prioritizes freedom above all things, but that's a story for another day.

I'm not sure it sounds like "Life Is Worth Living" but more like "This place is worth dying for", to be honest. Though it could be interesting to see how these two interact given Scrooge still has a love of adventure and going out to do your own thing buried deep, deep down.
