Hello, everybody, it's that time again! We've got some announcements to make, one of which is very important, so if you're strapped for time scroll on down to #3 and check out the rest later.

- Opal "when will I know the sweet embrace of 8 full hours of sleep again" Hypemachine
- First stage of reorganization is done! We've rerouted a bunch of links and gotten rid of some old ones for pages that weren't really being used or need drastic overhauls before they can be brought back. I did most of this on Day 5 of a week with very little sleep in it, so if you could keep an eye out for the typos, missing words, broken coding etc. I am sure are lurking somewhere in there I'd appreciate it :B Next step will be making lore more consistent and consolidating info so it's less confusing to dig for.
- Due to player requests, we're opening a tag system! This is not required, but if you'd like to tag posts you tossed a character into for tracking purposes go right ahead. Since we welcome AUs, doubles, etc., to prevent confusion the format is going to be using the character's journal name. (I wish we could do character name first for ease for searching, but that'd be too long. Sorry, guys.)
- Lastly, and here's the big one: we are implementing mandatory opt-out posts moving forward. I'm both delighted and extremely excited by how many people have shown interest in playing here, but it does come with a downside: it's inevitable that some people just aren't going to click! Maybe someone plays from a canon another has bad memories of and can't stand, or maybe a few people have history from another game— the RP community is big, lots of things can happen. The opt-out posts will hopefully give anyone in situations like that a means for people to avoid each other with a minimum of awkwardness or hurt feelings.
This requirement has been added to the pick-up page, so new players know what to expect and can just get that out of the way coming in. Existing players— I'm sorry for the hassle! I know not everyone follows the Discord channel, Plurk, the OOC comm, etc. or necessarily pays attention to the game 100% of the time since we all have lives, so I'm going to give you guys a week or so before I start reaching out to people.
There are some example posts here and here, but it really does not have to be fancy; even a simple "do you want to play with me y/n" is fine, though you can of course add any particularly sensitive topics that might come up with your character, or go wild and integrate it into your permissions/HMD post/etc. if you like. Right now there is no requirement to have these posts screened, though we do encourage it; if enough players raise concerns about having their comments out in the open, this may change! Once you've gotten it done, just post the link either here or on the taken page. We'll be putting them in with the taken info to make it easy to search by player or by character.
Now— here's the part I wish I didn't have to say. I don't actually think any of you guys will have problems with this, but I'd rather make my stance on this very clear from the get go: don't use these as a way to be dicks to each other.
If someone has a screened opt-out post and you leave nasty comments in it? We are going to strongly encourage them to come to us because we don't want people willing to pull that kind of behavior in the game. Be polite and respectful when tapping an opt-out post!
Similarly, be polite and respectful if someone uses yours! Shaming people for not wanting to play with you will not be tolerated any more than harassment will be. I get it— nobody likes to hear that other people don't want to play with them! It sucks. Having hurt feelings if it happens is fine and understandable, as is venting those feelings in your own space. However, any attempts to guilt trip other players over it will result in having a talk with me.
Which— on that note, I am not above this rule! If you would prefer me not to tag you, please let me know. I know it's awkward telling that to the head mod of the game, but enjoying the setting and our playerbase =/= having to enjoy interacting with me, my characters, or my writing. I promise I won't have any hard feelings about it, and if you need an NPC interaction or something, we can get Kururu on the case or handwave as necessary for your comfort. Or vice versa— this goes for Kururu as well.
